"There is music in words, and it can be heard you know, by thinking." ~ E. L. Doctorow
On Saturday, April 11, 2015, Hillfield Strathallan College is proud to be hosting CITE 2015, an opportunity for teachers to explore through workshops and keynote addresses our conference theme of “Leading with Words.” The NCTE, observing the integral place of writing in the highly mediated lives of our students, views writing as “the quintessential 21st century skill.” Where does writing fit in the wider panoply of literacies and what are the roles of myth, poetry, and literature in our classrooms? How can we help students to celebrate composition in all its forms and allow their words to serve them well?
Our InCITE judge, award-winning author Terry Fallis, will be on hand to celebrate our InCITE 2015 winners, and to offer his humorous perspective on publishing, media, and Earnest Hemmingway (no relation to the former Toronto Star reporter, Ernest Hemingway).
